EDC to Help Sleep in Heavenly Peace Build Beds for Kids

April 2021

On May 1, the EDC will hold a special "bed build" event to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization that provides beds for the many children who don't have one.

EDC members, friends and supporters are invited to join the EDC’s May 1 Bed Build when we partner with Sleep In Heavenly Peace to construct 50 beds for those who do not have one.

A 501(c)3 organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace has one goal: to ensure that all children have a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads.

Across the U.S., too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets and even floors. Sleep in Heavenly Peace® is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.

The EDC is encouraging members to join and even add creative ideas to help make the day special. You’re also encouraged to have fun at your work by collecting donations or bedding. Several at Maple Woods Community College are already collecting pillows, for example. You can bring your collected items directly to the build site May 1 and see the activity or drop them off at the EDC.

If you are interested in being a corporate sponsor, please give us a call (816-468-4989) or e-mail info@clayedc.com for more information. If you would like to help, these beds will need sheets, comforters, mattress pads and pillows, which you or a group could purchase and donate. The entire set should cost between $50 - $60. If that is too much, then grab a friend(s) and split the costs. You can start a collection at your work or simply drop them off at your EDC.

The build May 1 will take place just off the Liberty Square on Main Street, between Mississippi and Franklin Streets, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can register to help with the build at this link. You may also learn more about the organization or donate at this link.

You may also bring a check for Sleep in Heavenly Peace to the EDC.
