Smithville Names Cynthia Wagner as City Administrator

The City of Smithville has named a veteran municipal leader as its new city administrator.

Cynthia Wagner has served as an independent government management consultant in several communities in Missouri and Kansas. Last summer, she served as interim assistant city administrator for Grandview, where she also conducted a review of the parks and recreation department.

From July 2014 to February 2016, she served as city administrator of De Soto, Kansas. She also worked in government management and budgeting in Lawrence, Overland Park and Liberty.

The first woman to serve as Smithville’s city administrator, she began her tenure April 24.
