The Clay County Economic Development Council is seeking proposals for a study of capital needs within the corridor surrounding the Highway 152 and I-435 interchange.
The study will evaluate capital needs within the corridor for storm water drainage, flooding, bridges, streets, roadways, public property improvements, community centers, street lighting, curbs, gutters, park improvements, improvements related to facilitating traffic, economic development and quality of life for residents, businesses, consumers and visitors to Clay County.
The deadline for proposal submissions is Sept. 30. Complete details are available in this Request For Proposals.
The 587 Project is one of the EDC’s “Big 4” Strategic Plan goals announced in late 2019. The Big 4 also includes expansion of the KC Tech Academy in Liberty, expansion of the University of Missouri Center for Excellence in Orthopedics at Liberty Hospital and creation of 50 new businesses and 5,000 jobs, doubling growth that was targeted in the original, 2013 Strategic Plan.
Christened the “587 Project” by adding 152 and 435, the interchange is largely vacant and represents one of Greater Kansas City’s most strategic locations.
