Free Small Business Bootcamp Set for Sept. 15

The Clay County Economic Development Council and Mid-Continent Public Library will host a Small Business Bootcamp on Sept. 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Woodneath Library Center, 8900 Flintlock Road, Kansas City.

The event will focus on helping local entrepreneurs market and advertise their small business. At 9 a.m., there will be a keynote speech, followed by expert-led breakout sessions, networking and a resource fair of numerous organizations that aid small businesses.

“The bootcamp is a great place for aspiring entrepreneurs to get started, whether it’s by making new connections, learning new skills or finding the right resources to launch their business,” said Hanna Taylor, business specialist at Mid-Continent Public Library.

Great Breakout Sessions

Following the keynote speech, attendees will have the opportunity to attend two of six small group breakout sessions hosted by expert speakers from the Kansas City area with real world experience:

  • Traditional and Online Advertising presented by Terri S. Turner, Marketing Expert at EnCorps45.

  • Building a Sales Lead List presented by Kelly Head, MCPL Business Information Librarian.

  • A Brand Bible for Your Business presented by Santina Cessor, Principle Owner of Threads Studio.

  • Producing Your Own Business/Product Video presented by Hanna Taylor, MCPL Small Business Specialist.

  • Creating an Editorial Video presented by Sarah Mote, Marketing Director at KCSourceLink.

  • Questions to Ask before Spending Advertising Dollars presented by Tiffiney Baumgarden, Social Media Manager at KCPT and and owner of THREE: A Social Agency.
