Jim Chappell has sold his landmark restaurant and sports museum in North Kansas City.
Chappell, who has operated the popular business in North Kansas City for 32 years, sold both the restaurant and his enormous collection of sports memorabilia to a group of Kansas City area investors that include David Block, president of Block & Co. Inc. Realtors.
According to reports in the Kansas City Star and Kansas City Business Journal, the historic location will be operated by California-based Broseph's Restaurant Group. Broseph's was founded in 2010 and operates three similar restaurants, Brick + Mortar, a bar that features American cuisine; Greenbelt, which sources its ingredients from local farmer's markets; and Bar Esquina, which features a Mediterranean and Mexican-inspired menu.
Plans for the new operation have not been finalized but will include an update to the menu and space with continuation of the sports theme.
Chappell’s has been a favorite for many throughout its long history, and its leadership has been recognized several times. It was named one of the 25 Best Sports Bars in America by Sports Illustrated and one of the top 10 restaurants and sports museums by USA Today.
