KCATA Promoting Job Access Programs

September 2018

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is driving job access by promoting partnerships with local businesses to provide innovative transportation solutions to employers looking to get their employees to the jobs that are available.

By collaborating with area businesses and transportation providers, KCATA can create a transportation plan geared to fit your needs.

The EDC’s Quality of Life Task Force recently learned some good examples. A collaboration called "Smart Move 3.0” is providing quality transportation services driving employees to jobs in Southern Johnson County. The program even provides transportation when someone needs to leave work early for an unexpected event.

For additional information, visit the ATA’s website, kcata.org, or call their main number 816.221.0660. Other options include email, at this address, GroupEmail.KCATARideshare@ehi.com, and by calling 1.800.VAN.4.WORK (1.800.826 .4967), 816-346-0800 (for van pooling) and visiting RideshareKC.org.
Another example is the Employer Pass programs that makes it easy

and affordable for employees to get passes to KCATA. KCATA is looking to design programs to fit individual needs needs.

Driving KCATA is its ability to forge strategic partnerships with area businesses. These partnerships lead KCATA to accelerate and build solutions unique to the needs of your organization.

One example is the KCATA Vanpool initiative, an innovative, collaborative, and creative way for a company’s employees to save money while getting them to work and helping our environment. KCATA Vanpool is available in Clay, Jackson, Johnson, Wyandotte, Platte, Leavenworth, and Cass counties in the Kansas City area.

To join or start a van pool or carpool with KCATA, visit RideShareKC.org. Here's our promise to you once we receive your completed application, we'll find matches for you and let you know when a vanpool or carpool in your area is ready to start. Depending upon availability in your area, you may even be able to join an existing van or car that matches your schedule and location.

Vanpool members pay an affordable, low monthly fare, based on the cost of operating the van. Vehicles include seven, eight and 12-passenger vans.

Carpools are unique in that each carpool member takes turns driving their own vehicle, while with others there is only one driver with reimbursement options. Each carpool will be different based on the individual circumstances of those in the group. KCATA Vanpool accepts online payments. We also offer a simple driver approval process and other online management tools for your convenience.

Another example is the Employer Pass Program. The employer pays at least $5 toward the cost of a 31-Day bus pass for each participating employee and KCATA adds a $5 discount so employers can pass on significant savings to their employees. The employer contribution is tax deductible.

Benefits For Employers:

  • Tax deductible savings

  • Stress-free solutions
  • Reduce parking costs

Benefits For Employees:
