Bootcamp to Help Entrepreneurs "Compete with Giants"

August 2017

The Clay County Economic Development Council and Mid-Continent Public Library will host a Small Business Bootcamp to help local entrepreneurs start and grow their own business. The event is at the Woodneath Library Center, 8900 Flintlock Road, Kansas City and begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15.

Stella Crewse is the CEO of Morgan Miller Plumbing and the keynote speaker for this event. She noted that for any business to succeed, they must focus carefully.
“It’s easy to lose sight of your core product,” she noted. “You have to focus on what’s making you money and not only what your customers dictate. Through strategic planning, we have taken what we do, along with who we are in our company culture, to create our brand on social media that competes with bigger companies in town.”

After starting a family with her husband, Crewse was looking to get back into the work force. What started out as a part-time accounting job has evolved into her position as CEO of Morgan Miller Plumbing. In her 14 years there, Crewse has helped the company weather the recession, played a key role in evaluating who their target customers are, and spearheaded the creation of a strategic plan for the company. Her journey from part-time bookkeeper to running a plumbing company is just one part of this inspiring story.

Crewse has also helped cultivate Morgan Miller Plumbing into a brand that competes with larger area plumbing companies by leveraging their social media to reflect their company culture and strengthen their brand.

This program is funded by a grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

Registration for this event is free and required. For more information or to register, visit this link.
