Walgreens has chosen Liberty for one of nine $30-million “micro-fulfillment centers” being developed across the country to expand and improve its product delivery.
As part of the announcement, the Illinois-based corporation said it would hire 200 employees for the development, which will be located at the Liberty Commerce Center near South Liberty Parkway, west of Withers Road.
Under construction by NorthPoint Development, Liberty Commerce Center is an approximately $200 million, speculative business park set to open late next year. The Walgreens facility is scheduled to be one of eight buildings at the location. The entire project is planned for more than 3.5 million square feet on 337 acres.
The Walgreens project is expected to generate a payroll of approximately $8 million annually. The jobs created by the location will include pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and maintenance technicians.
