iWerx in North Kansas City will serve as basecamp for Global Entrepreneurship Week Kansas City 2022, Nov. 14-20.
For 15 years, KCSourceLink has organized GEWKC, a weeklong event that draws thousands to network, learn and grow. In 2022, iWerx North Kansas City will be home to GEWKC’s main sessions. Nearby businesses will also participate in the week’s events, including Restless Spirits, Cinder Block Brewery and Chicken N Pickle.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is an international celebration of the dreamers, innovators and job creators who launch startups, bring ideas to life and advance entrepreneurship. Founded in Kansas City by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in 2008, the event has since expanded to more than 170 countries.
North Kansas City’s first business incubator, iWerx, is home to startups and post-revenue small businesses. It offers space for coworking and events. Its sister locations include similar space for makers in both North Kansas City and Gladstone. The Gladstone iWerx is home to the EDC offices.
For 2022, GEWKC will feature over 150 educational sessions hosted by KC entrepreneurs and resource organizations. Each is geared toward and ready to help anyone who wants to start, grow, accelerate or champion entrepreneurship and small businesses.
GEWKC attendees can join any session – all free – in any of the five tracks: Makers, Artists and Creators; Startups; Scaleup; Inclusive Communities; and Youthpreneurs. GEWKC is powered by KC’s entrepreneurship community and organized by KCSourceLink, a program of the UMKC Innovation Center.
See all the sessions, register and build your agenda at GEWKC.org.
Past base camps have been held in the 18th and Vine District in Kansas City and in the city’s Midtown neighborhood, two other thriving entrepreneurial hubs that have been historic hotbeds of arts, community and culture.
