With a huge META datacenter already on the way, Clay County may soon add more development in this rapidly growing field in the Northland.
META, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, broke ground earlier this spring on a massive datacenter planned for 375 acres northwest of I-435 and Highway 169 in Kansas City, North. Significantly, that represents only part of the larger, nearly 800-acre Golden Plains Technology Park under development by Diode Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Black & Veatch headquartered in Overland Park.
Apparently, that’s only the start.
Diode Ventures is now planning Rocky Branch Creek, another datacenter campus on 358 acres, just east across Highway 169. Rock Branch Creek could also see multiple datacenter buildings.
Key factors driving these projects are the location’s outstanding highway access and a nearby electrical substation and transmission line. Like initial announcements for the META site, no tenant has been named yet in connection with Rocky Branch Creek.
