You can register here.
Oracle Cerner Opportunity: When Cerner leadership went from Neal Patterson and Cliff Illig to outsiders it became clear to start making contingency plans in case the North Kansas City campus was ever vacated. In June of this year when it was announced that Oracle was purchasing the company the time was obviously near. Your EDC felt like we missed their announcement when the Kansas City Business Journal’s Brian Kaberline, who had a reader forward him the company e-mail, contacted us Monday morning until a quick call to NKC Mayor Bryant DeLong revealed that he heard it from a constituent who saw the company announcement on Redditt. Very professional of them. What an opportunity for not just North Kansas City but the entire Northland. The 5,000 employees the campus hosted pre-pandemic were mostly working virtually thus not contributing to the local economy over lunch breaks or after hours. Now we will be able to get plenty of press to talk about not just a beautiful campus with the 1G push to 3G KCFiber/liNKCity internet, but also to let the world know about the education, safety and reasonable property values of the Northland. While the current employees will have no reason to leave the area, the 5,000 fortunate new ones will bring that much more to our economy.
NKCH & MH Philanthropy: Tuesday Dr. Stephen Reintjes Sr., MD, President and CEO of North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health, introduced the hospital’s new Philanthropy Program and their Chief Development Officer Courtney Johanning. They announced a $3 million donation from Nancy Botham, a former patient of the hospital. We get another jewel. Read the press release here.
