A rumored entry of Google into the Northland seems closer.
For years, a 71-acre location in Hunt Midwest Business Center has been rumored as a possible Google datacenter. A business Google has used for such development has been involved in preliminary work at the location northwest of Parvin Road and Arlington Ave., approximately one mile east of Worlds of Fun. Plans for the area are currently making their way through Kansas City’s administration.
Last year, the Kansas City Council authorized a nondisclosure agreement with Google. Early this year, Port KC sought preconstruction and construction service proposals for a “Building 1” by the firm representing Google.
Clay County is also home to an even larger data development by Meta Platforms Inc. northwest of I-435 and Highway 169, where the parent of Facebook holds over 800 acres.
