Championship Rivalries: While your EDC appreciates all high school activities we have to tell you that Friday night is one you should be out watching district championship football. Great Northland rivalries are happening in our County. Kearney travels to Smithville, Liberty crosses the city to play Liberty North and Oak Park welcomes Park Hill. Platte County and St. Pius are also in action. All games start at 7:00PM.

587 Marketing Plan: Your EDC’s 587 Plan’s southeast corridor is being marketed by David Block and Bill Maas of Block & Company, Inc.  To see the details click here. We have also been in discussion with a developer for the northwest corridor. The “game-changer for the Metro and attitude adjustment for the Northland” is starting to take shape three years after the Olsson Plan was first started. As the Northland approaches 400,000 residents it’s time for us to have the amenities we are used to crossing a state line or river for. Our hope is that residents of those other areas will come up to visit us.

Keystone Awards: Your EDC has sent Keystone Awards nomination forms to our EDC Pros. A lot has happened in our County this year and we can’t wait to recognize the game changers December 14th in conjunction with our Annual Meeting. More details will follow but please save the date for lunch. Our Look North luncheon drew over 300 people who make a difference in our County and you’ll want to be able to network with these leaders.

911 Tax Passes: Clay County’s request for a 911 fee won this week with 60.9% of the vote including majorities in 77 of the 84 precincts. Prior to this election, 911 was charged only on landlines. The new system will be more fair as now a monthly fee of $1 will be charged on any communications service that has been enabled to contact 911.

Garrison Celebrates Veterans: The Clay County African American Legacy, Inc and the Clay County Museum will host a Veterans’ Day Program at the Garrison School Cultural Center at 502 N Water in Liberty on November 11th at 10AM. The open to the public event will feature Commander Carlton Philpot of the United States Navy as the guest speaker. Commander Philpot was inducted into the Fort Leavenworth Hall of Fame in 2022, the first and only Navy person among the more than 200 inductees.

Coffee Connect: This Wednesday we will gather at the North Kansas City iWerx Building at 1520 Clay to hear Jason Crowley talk about Indigex and how he will take care of your technology so you can take care of business. Networking begins at 7:45 with the hour-long presentation at 8AM.
