Chiefs’ Pep Rally at Harrah’s: Harrah’s has an unforgettable night December 9that their VooDoo Lounge. Rock out with Blane Howard and Duke Oursler at 8PM followed by an epic tailgate featuring the Chief’s drum line. There is a drawing at 11PM where four lucky winners will score autographed Chiefs’ memorabilia or a pair of season tickets.

Eagles and Bulldogs Oh My: The only time Kearney had the ball and did not score during Saturday’s 4A State Championship football game they were killing the clock before halftime knocking off Hillsboro 68-28. Liberty North won the 6A title by thumping Christian Brothers’ College 38-7. Congratulations to everyone who represented their school this fall whether it be in sports, band, theater or academics.

Honoring Dr. Clemens: The North Kansas City School District’s Board of Education voted this week to name their Early Education Center at 6479 Prospect Ave in Gladstone the “Clemens Learning Center” after their retiring superintendent Dr. Danny Clemens.  Joining the District in 2021, Dr. Clemens has turned North Kansas City Schools into a destination district, becoming the second largest district in Missouri. Congratulations on a job well-done and for making Clay County a better place to live, work, play and learn my friend.

Royal George: Yes I have a twitter account and maybe average a minute a day on it. Every so often you stumble across a gem. Here is one from George Brett. Your EDC cannot wait for the Royals to move to Northtown.

New Holiday Friend: The MCC Maple Woods Vet Tech Program’s pet adoption is back just in time for the holidays. All of their pets are rescued from local shelters throughout the Kansas City area. In this program, they update all dogs and cats with vaccinations, a spay or neuter, full dental cleaning, preventative care and socialize them to be the perfect pet for your home. No cats this time but here are the pups.

Liberty Chamber Awards: Mary Ellen and Ed Hughes, owners of the Northland Rolladium, were named the Liberty Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year. The Bill Kersten Outstanding Citizen of Year Award was received by Daniel Doering, Master Instructor and owner of FastKick Martial Arts Center.

NKCBC Awards CNP: David Johnson, founder of Chicken N Pickle, won the prestigious North Kansas City Business Council’s Marion and John Kreamer Award for Social Entrepreneurship last week at the NKCBC’s Annual Holly Jolly Holiday Food Fest & Silent Auction. With it’s ninth “Eatertainment” opening this month, Chicken N Pickle will open six more locations in 2024.
