Keystone Awards: Thank you to everyone who attended your EDC’s Keystone Awards/Annual Meeting yesterday at Harrah’s. Ford Motor Company was our Platinum Sponsor joining Silver Sponsors Liberty Hospital, Curry Real Estate Services, The Full Employment Council and McCownGordon. The Keystone Awards were given based on public investment with a significant impact on the economy of Clay County. Recipients were Hunt Midwest Business Center Logistics IV and V, Harmony Hill Animal Hospital, Starbucks, Tractor Supply, Opus Development, US Motor Works and Pride Fitness. Special Recognition Awards were given for public or public/private projects that have a significant impact on our economy and/or quality of life. Those honored were the Hall of Waters, the Gladstone Police Headquarters, the 19th Street Kearney Interchange, Kearney’s Pickleball and Skate Park, Kearney School District improvements, the Armour Road Complete Street Project, Chapel Hill Elementary School, Smithville Streetscape Phase II and their Main Street Trail. A special Royal Award was given to the Oxbow Apartments for their assistance in bringing Major League Baseball to Clay County.
Santa at 60: Saturday marks the 60th year that the Pleasant Valley kids will have Santa come by their homes on a firetruck. Using donations and money raised by their association, Pleasant Valley firefighters will be passing out bags of candy and a stuffed animal donated by PetSmart as they chauffeur Santa around PV and Glenaire where they provide fire service.
NKC Hospital Ranked: North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health is again among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, earning a rating of “High Performing in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)” for 2024. This is the second consecutive year NKCH and MH has received U.S. News’ highest award for maternity care. The official release is available by clicking here.
Only One Pup Left: We can’t let Chloe spend the holidays alone. All the other pups have found a home. The MCC Maple Woods Vet Tech Program’s pet adoption pups are rescued from local shelters throughout the Kansas City area. In this program, they update all dogs and cats with vaccinations, a spay or neuter, full dental cleaning, preventative care and socialize them to be the perfect pet for your home.
