Clay County EDC Overview
Our non-profit organization is committed to maximizing economic well-being and opportunity throughout Clay County.
We were originally founded as the Clay County Industrial Development Commission on May 15, 1967; on May 16, 1985, our name was changed to Clay County Economic Development Council. We have always been a nonprofit organization that promotes economic development in Clay County, Missouri. In 1967, we had less than 20 members; today, our membership has grown to 147 active members.
Through the partnership of private and public sectors, we’ve created and retained thousands of Clay County jobs and millions of dollars in new capital investment since our founding in 1967. Clay County's private and public sectors tend to love where they live and work, and the people of Clay County want to invest their time and money to see our county flourish.
Our affiliate organizations provide several services, including capital for small businesses through the 504 debenture and revolving loan programs.
Our Mission
The Clay County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering relationships with business owners, leaders, government officials at the federal, state, city, and county levels, civic organizations, and our Clay County residents.
Our goals include:
- Attracting and retaining businesses to create new jobs and provide a stable foundation for our community.
- Enhancing transportation and infrastructure to drive economic development and improve our community's competitiveness.
- Establishing an information center to connect our business members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Proactively identifying, prioritizing, and executing special projects that contribute to the economic growth of our community.
- Educating the business community about our SBA-504 and various Midwest Small Business Loan opportunities through our Clay/Platte Development Corporation.
